People who work in finance are not known for being funny. However, those in the crypto world are. They invented entire currencies based on memes, like dogecoin. You bet a lot of people bought those for the joke, but the trend may be waning.
Meme-inspired cryptocurrencies derive their value primarily from how popular they become with the community and social media, so they’re very volatile. Because of that, it’s likely they’ll lose steam and disappear entirely in favor of more stable ones like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
