In the late 90s, a young woman named Stacy Madison and her partner discovered the ultimate snack while giving away some leftover scraps of pita bread to all the customers waiting in line at their food cart: the pita chips.
When PepsiCo noticed how trendy these goodies were, they decided to buy Stacy’s wholesale business and become the only provider of pita chips in the US. That way, the multinational company could complement its ever-growing portfolio of snacks with a healthier option. What a clever move!
